Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
TapCook ("we," "us") is operated by testmaxx LLC. This policy explains what information the TapCook app handles and how. We built TapCook to work without accounts and to keep your data on your device wherever possible.
Information we handle
- Recipes you save. When you share a recipe link to TapCook, the recipe you create — its title, ingredients, steps, and images — is stored on your device. We do not require an account and do not keep a copy of your library on our servers.
- The links you save. To turn a video into a recipe, TapCook sends the shared URL (and, where available, the video's caption, audio, or a still frame) to the third-party services listed below so they can extract the recipe. This content is processed to return structured recipe data; it is not used to build a profile of you.
- Subscription status. If you start a subscription, our payments provider (RevenueCat) receives a randomly generated app user ID and your purchase/entitlement information so we can unlock premium features and support restores. We never receive your name, card number, or Apple ID.
- Diagnostics. The app may collect anonymous crash and performance diagnostics through Apple's standard tools to keep TapCook stable. This data is not linked to your identity.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not require you to create an account or share your contacts.
- We do not run advertising trackers inside the app.
Third-party services
To extract and present recipes, and to handle subscriptions, TapCook relies on the following providers. Each processes only what it needs and is governed by its own privacy policy:
- Anthropic (Claude) — reads recipe captions/transcripts to produce structured ingredients and steps.
- OpenAI (Whisper) — transcribes recipe-video audio into text.
- Supadata — retrieves public video metadata and transcripts.
- Apple & RevenueCat — process subscription purchases and manage entitlements. All payment handling is done by Apple.
Data retention
Recipes and app data live on your device and are removed when you delete a recipe or delete the app. Content sent to the extraction services above is processed to fulfill your request and is retained by those providers only per their own policies. Subscription records are retained by our payments provider as needed to manage your subscription.
Children
TapCook is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
Because your library lives on your device, you control it directly — delete any recipe, or delete the app, to remove that data. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Apple ID settings. For any privacy request, email us at the address below.
Changes
We may update this policy as TapCook evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
