Terms of Use
Last updated: August 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the TapCook app, operated by testmaxx LLC ("we," "us"). By downloading or using TapCook, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
The service
TapCook plans dinners for the week and builds a single grocery list for them, estimated against the grocery store you select and sized to a budget you set. Planning and pricing run on your device using recipe and price data shipped inside the app. TapCook is a personal planning tool for household use.
Prices are estimates
This is the most important thing to understand about TapCook. The prices and totals the app shows are estimates, not quotes, and not live prices from any retailer.
Estimates are built from a national reference price for each ingredient, adjusted by a factor for the chain you chose and for the region your ZIP code falls in. TapCook has no connection to any retailer's pricing systems, inventory, loyalty programs or checkout, and does not read prices from the shelf or the till. Actual prices change constantly and vary by branch; promotions, pack sizes, substitutions, taxes and availability will all move your real total. Only some chains have had prices checked against the shelf, and the app labels which. You should expect your actual checkout total to differ, and you should not rely on TapCook's figures for any purpose where accuracy matters. We are not liable for any difference between an estimate and what you actually pay.
No affiliation with grocery retailers
TapCook is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to any grocery retailer. Store names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only nominally, to identify which store a plan was priced against.
Recipes
Recipes in TapCook are provided for personal, non-commercial use. Cooking times, yields and serving sizes are approximate.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use TapCook.
Subscriptions & billing
- TapCook offers an auto-renewable subscription ("TapCook Premium") on a monthly and a yearly plan.
- The yearly plan begins with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. The monthly plan has no free trial and bills immediately. If your Apple ID has already used an introductory offer for TapCook, you are not eligible for another and billing starts at purchase; the app tells you when this is the case.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. After any free trial, the subscription automatically renews at the then-current price unless you cancel.
- Your subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Prices are shown in the app before you purchase and may vary by region. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store's policies; we generally cannot issue refunds directly.
Your content and your device
Your plan, grocery list, kitchen and setup answers are stored on your device. We do not keep a copy, which means we cannot restore them if you delete the app, lose your phone, or switch devices. See the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse TapCook — including attempting to disrupt the service, reverse engineer it, scrape or redistribute its recipe or price data, or use it to infringe others' rights or violate any law.
Intellectual property
The TapCook app, name, design, recipe collection and price data are owned by testmaxx LLC and are licensed to you for personal use only. Third-party trademarks remain the property of their owners.
Food safety, allergens & nutrition
TapCook is not a source of dietary, nutritional, medical or fitness advice, and it is not a medical device. Any nutrition figures shown are rough estimates calculated from generic ingredient data — they do not account for the specific products you buy and may be inaccurate.
Dietary filters and "won't eat" settings are conveniences, not safety features. They are not allergen controls and must not be relied on to avoid an allergen or meet a medical dietary requirement. Always read the label on everything you buy and check every ingredient yourself if you or anyone you cook for has an allergy or intolerance. Follow safe food-handling practice, and verify cooking temperatures and times with your own judgment and equipment. Consult a qualified doctor or dietitian before making decisions about your diet or health, especially if you have a medical condition, an eating disorder, or are pregnant. You are responsible for what you cook and eat.
Disclaimer & limitation of liability
TapCook is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, testmaxx LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including any difference between estimated and actual grocery costs.
Changes
We may update these Terms as TapCook evolves. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
